Every studio must have a minimum of FIVE ENTRIES in order to compete in a “Pick The Stars” Competition.
Fees are payable per person and are NON REFUNDABLE under any circumstances.

Pick The Stars Competition is reserved for RECREATIONAL dancers only. Choose one of the following classifications: |

|
Novice |
|
These dancers have studied dance 1 to 2 years and/or spend 1 to 2 hours a week in studio including REHEARSALS. |
|
Intermediate |
|
These dancers have studied dance 3 to 5 years and/or spend 3 to 5 hours a week in studio including REHEARSALS. |
|
Advanced |
|
These dancers have studied dance 6 years or more and/or spend 6 hours or more a week in studio including REHEARSALS. |
|
| Routines - Dances |
|
|
ACRO DANCE / GYMNASTICS / CHEERLEADING |
|
Has to include either acrobatic movements, gymnastic movements and/or cheerleading style movements. |
|
BALLET/POINTE |
|
Routine must consist of ballet technique and classical movements.
|
|
JAZZ |
|
Must consist of primarily of jazz technique. |
|
LYRICAL/MODERN |
|
Must demonstrate balance, control and extension. Form of dance based on interpretation. |
|
MUSICAL COMEDY |
|
“Broadway” style... “Lip sync” permitted. |
|
STREET JAZZ/RAP/HIP HOP |
|
Must demonstrate Free style, street jazz and/or hip hop movements. Choreographed to contemporary music. |
|
TAP |
|
Must contain tap technique. No tap sounds on music. |
|
OPEN |
|
Any routine not complying with the above categories (folkloric, etc...) or includes more than one of the above mentioned categories. |

CENSORED VERSION ONLY.
Each routine must be on a separate, good quality CD (with back-up).
Each CD must have:
- The entry number
- The title
- The dance studio
Timing must be respected. See CATEGORY section for maximum times.

All entries will be timed by PTSI. One point deduction for every 10 Seconds over the time limit.

|
|
A minimum of four (4) entries in each special category in order to receive the special award. |

Miss/Mr. PTSI |
|
(Junior/Senior) Will be adjudicated during the solo performance of their choice. |
|
Photogenic |
|
(Junior/Senior) One photo (5X7 or 8X10 B&W or Color)
On reverse side of photo: name, studio, age group division
All photos (except winners) must be picked up at the end of the competition by the studio director. PTSI will not be held responsible for lost or damaged photos.
$5.00 for each additional photo.

Modeling |
|
(Junior/Senior). This category does not include dance. Entries must execute a front and/or back “T” runway formation. Props are permitted. Swimsuits are not allowed.
Timing: Minimum 30 seconds and Maximum 1 minute. |
|
Outstanding Costume |
|
(Junior/Senior) The award will be based on overall impression, fit and how the costume relates to the choreography. Judging will take place during the performance of their choice. |
|
Singing (Solo) |
|
(Junior/Senior) Will be adjudicated on vocal quality, breathing, etc... Solo only. |
|
| Scoring procedure |
|
|
Upon entering a "Pick The Stars" competition, acceptance of the judges' decision is FINAL.
Speaking to the judges during the competition is prohibited.
Pick The Stars contestants will be judged by a panel of THREE highly qualified judges greatly esteemed in the dance community.

| Rules & regulations |
|
|
Cellular phones must be turned off during the competition.
Food, drinks and smoking are prohibited in the competition area.
Any participant that abuses the dressing area will be disqualified immediately. Each studio or participant will be responsible for keeping their dressing area clean.
Contestants must conduct themselves with decorum during the entire competition.
Contestants cannot rehearse in the theatre.
Contestants must perform as scheduled.
NO CONTESTANT may represent more than one studio but the contestant may register for as many categories as he/she wishes.
The limit for costume change is a minimum of fifteen (15) minutes.
Props are permitted… No knives, swords or fire.
Contestants grant permission to “PTSI” to use their photos for advertising in connection with this competition.
VIDEO / PHOTOGRAPHY No video cameras will be allowed. Only PTSI personnel will tape the competition (when applicable). Your numbers may be purchased. Flash photography is prohibited. |

Each entry will receive ONE award and a ribbon for each participant in the entry performed according to the scoring received. Also, each PTSI participant will receive a Pick The Stars Int'l pin. |
